Secure Digital Storage

When it comes to storing data Nemean applies the same principles used in the military: stop it from falling into enemy hands by properly accounting for and securing it.

Providing a secure environment for each client

We work closely with every client to integrate Nemean data security options and best practices with the clients’ pre-existing procedures. These procedures are overlaid with a full audit and confirmation process, which has been adapted from the equities settlement process used by financial institutions. This allows us to create a robust and dynamic ecosystem that can be adapted to each client. The ecosystem enriches the security posture of our clients while minimising their security and enterprise risks.

Our team in London works with over a hundred clients in the financial services and crypto sectors, ranging from hedge funds and banks to crypto custody services.

Process

For the purpose of redundancy Nemean operates a backup system of data storage. This means that there is a primary and a backup version for each data file and any other associated data (i.e. a key shard file and the creation session data).

Refinement of the process for the particular requirements of recovering cryptocurrency and other digital assets is an ongoing iterative process. Our current process is ISO 27001 accredited and SOC 2 compliant, designed to follow any pertinent regulatory guidance, and adhere to the guiding principle of minimising 3rd-party risk.

Team

  • Our services are delivered by an experienced team of ex-military and specialist personnel.
  • Each client is looked after by our dedicated account management team based in London.
  • Our security systems are constantly maintained, reviewed and refined by our information security team.

Vault

For both private and institutional clients, Nemean's safeguarding service offers an offline storage solution for data files than can be used to recover assets.  All data file assets are stored on FIPS 140-2 level 3 encrypted devices. Onsite devices are held in a SOC 2 compliant secure space. Backup copies are transported on a FIPS 140-2 level 3 encrypted device to an insured offsite FCA-registered facility and then transferred to offsite storage devices held inside a grade 10 vault.

Audit

The audit process is a check of the physical assets both on and off site. This process requires a minimum of two members of staff and is underpinned by a confirmation where required. Audits occur: monthly (physical check of all existing data files), bi-annually (data integrity and functionality check of data files) and three-yearly (rolling replacement of all hardware).

How to become a client

Nemean offers a structured onboarding process for institutional clients through our partner custodians and platforms. However, our adaptable storage model means we are always happy to onboard with a new partner/platform that we have not worked with before.
